Be careful with what you execute!
Before proceeding with the execution of anything you find on the internet, make sure to read and understand what the file does. In LINUX, you and only you are responsible for your security. Don’t forget it.

Just like in the previous post, I’ve included a silent video to accompany the following guide:

This time, I’ve prepared a small script so you can easily install Steam, Wine, and Lutris on your system, as well as some proprietary codecs to play video files without any issues.

  • First, go to this link in your web browser.
  • Click on the fedogamer.sh file and download it.
  • Then, grant it execution permissions: Right-click > Properties > Permissions > Is executable > OK.
  • Run it by double-clicking the fedogamer.sh file.
  • In the new window, type your password.
  • It’s important to know that there is no visual feedback for your password for security reasons.
  • Press Enter and wait for the configuration window to appear.

When the window opens, select what you want to install:

  • Extra repositories to find more programs in the Discover store.
  • Install Wine to manually run Windows games.
  • Lutris, a program to manage your installed games.
  • Video drivers to improve game compatibility.
  • The Steam installer.
  • And finally, multimedia codecs.

Click OK and wait for the installation to finish. You can track the progress and see exactly what is being done at all times. Once finished, click OK and the windows will close.

Next, we finish installing Steam. Search for it in your applications, click Install, and wait for the Steam login window to open. From here, you can log in with your account and add shortcuts to your favorite apps or the desktop.

Similarly, you can finish setting up Lutris. This program is a bit more complex with many options for running various games, so it takes a bit more time to master.

Finally, change your wallpaper to kick off the endless customizations you can do with your desktop!

This concludes our Linux migration tutorial for Gaming purposes.
